Ethics of Aesthetic Medicine

Aesthetic medicine is a noble career with a mission to enhance spiritual, physical, and life beauty of human beings one of the fundamental components of medical care.

I. An aesthetic medicine practitioner has an obligation and duty to maintain and uphold the integrity of medical science during aesthetic medicine practice. Abide by the ethical principles set out for medical practice and follow conscientiously general occupational morality and behavioral rules.

II. An aesthetic medicine practitioner must always bear in mind the basic principle of integrating scientific, artistic and ethical aspects of aesthetic medicine so as to achieve the most desirable harmony between health and beauty.

III. An aesthetic medicine practitioner shall care for patients with benevolence and kindness, give them psychological and physical comfort as far as possible.

IV. An aesthetic medicine practitioner shall exercise his or her discretion in selecting patients and pay strict attention to indications and contraindications. Be obligated to explain and provide information regarding aesthetic medicine treatment to patients together with its advantages, disadvantages and complications. A letter of informed consent should be signed. Avoid abuses in treatment.

V. An aesthetic medicine practitioner should take extreme care to minimize trauma and optimize aesthetic effect during the treatment process.

VI. An aesthetic medicine practitioner shall fully respect patients’ right of privacy and portrait. Never use their pre-post photographs and disclose the individual medical information to any non-academic publications and any other kind of media without their consent.

VII. An aesthetic medicine practitioner shall be trustworthy and truthful and never practice forgery in dissertations, reports, and advertisements.

VIII. An aesthetic medicine practitioner shall respect fellow practitioners and colleagues and act in a spirit of unity and collaboration. Be practical and realistic. Advocate academic democracy and discard immoral behavior of upgrading oneself by disparaging others.
